Beatification of Sr. Marguerite Rutan DC – June 19, 2011

Holy Trinity Sunday, June 19, 2011 was a great feast in the city of Dax in is South Western France. A martyr of French Revolution, first Superioress and Director of the city hospital, Sister Marguerite Rutan, Daughter of Charity guillotined on April 7, 1794 was beatified. The solemn ceremony begun minutes after 3:00 PM (1300GMT) in the Parc des Parc des Arènes of Maurice Boyau  in Dax, a facility built as bullring turned in the place of liturgical celebration for the occasion.

Fr. Mitchell Wanat CM – 40 years as teacher and pastor

Of forty years in priesthood almost a half of it he dedicated to teaching and educating young people being idolized by students either at St. John Kanty Prep in Erie, PA or in Bishop Brady High School, Concord, NH. For the other half, he has been living in parochial ministry as vicar, administrator and pastor. Fr. Mitchell Wanat CM, pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Ansonia, CT is celebrating ruby priesthood anniversary this month. A Mass honoring his jubilee will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16 in Ansonia.

Pope’s Message for the 45th World Communication Day

“Truth, Proclamation and Authenticity of Life in the Digital Age” is the theme of the annual message of Pope Benedict XVI for the 45th World Communication Day. It will be observed worldwide on coming Sunday, June 5. In his address Pope invited Christians to join online social networks in order to spread the Gospel through digital media and discover “an entirely new world of potential friendships.” At the same time he warned of the limits and the dangers of digital communication, including the risks of constructing a false online image and of replacing direct human contact with virtual relationships.

Silver Priesthood Anniversary of Fr. Roman Kmieć CM

At 9:00 AM, Tuesday, May 24, fifteen Confreres celebrated their jubillee Eucharist in the Vincentian seminary church of Conversion of St. Paul at Stradom in Krakow, Poland, a place where they were ordained priests twenty five years ago. Fr. Roman Kmieć CM, pastor of St. Stanislaus Parish in New Haven, CT was among those celebrants. Earlier this month, Fr. Roman’s parishioners in New Haven organized beautiful anniversary celebration a solemn Mass followed by special reception.

“Proposing Vocations in the Local Church” – Benedict XVI writes for World Day of Prayer for Vocations

“It is no less challenging to follow Christ today. It means learning to keep our gaze fixed on Jesus, growing close to him, listening to his word and encountering him in the sacraments; it means learning to conform our will to his. This requires a genuine school of formation for all those who would prepare themselves for the ministerial priesthood or the consecrated life under the guidance of the competent ecclesial authorities” – Holy Father writes in his message for the 48th World Day of Prayer for Vocations which is observed on Sunday, May 15,  4th Easter Sunday (Good Shepherd Sunday).
