 On April 23, 1853, the day of his 40th birthday, six month before his death, Frederic Ozanam wrote his final testament. Famvin.org has obtained and translated a Powerpoint presentation prepared by Fr. Chuno Chavez, C.M. for the Vincentian Family gathering in Peru in 2010. It highlights key elements of the last will of the founder of Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He died September 8, 1953.

 Mrs Eugenia Zając, mother of Fr. Boleslaw Potomski CM, died on August 6, 2013 in Poland. Fr. Boleslaw is residing in the Provincial Hosue in Manchester, CT. Previously he was working in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stamford, CT and St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Brooklyn, NY.
The funeral of Mrs. Eugenia Zajac will take place on Friday, August 9, 2013 in the Assumption Our Lady church in Gorajec-Stara Wieś, near Radecznica in Lubaczow-Zamosc Diocese in Eastern Poland. She will be burried in the parish cemetery. After the Mass she will be interred in the family grave at parish cemetery.
Let us keep her and her family in our prayers. Eternal rest give her, Lord!

 Today, July 5, Superior General announced the Provincial Superiors (Visitors) gathered at St. John’s University, Jamaica, New York for the international meeting appointment of new Assistant General. Since September 15, Fr. Matthew Kallammakal, C.M., former Visitor of the Province of North India will replace Fr. Varghese Thottamkara, C.M., whom Pope Francis recently named coadjutor Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Nekemte, Ethiopia.
According to the Constitutions of the Congregation of the Mission (cf.n.118.2), when an Assistant General ceases its mandate for some reason, a replacement shall be appointed by the Superior General with the deliberative vote of his Council.

 On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress, granting the 13 colonies their freedom as a sovereign nation. We remember in prayer those who founded our country so that we can live with honor, dignity, and the freedom to freely give glory to God our Creator.
On this Independence Day we pray to God in thanksgiving for our basic freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We especially remember on this day the words of our forefathers, words to live by, “In God we Trust”. So as we celebrate this day which is considered the birthday of the United States of America with barbecues, ceremonies, fireworks and family gatherings, let us remember the Lord our God who has bestowed upon this country countless blessings.

 His Holiness Pope Francis appointed Father VARGHESE THOTTAMKARA, C.M. as coadjutor of the Apostolic Vicariate of Nekemte in Ethiopia, assinging him the Titular See of Chullu, Vatican Information Service (VIS) announced ealier today, June 28, 2013. Fr. Varghese has been Assistant General since July 2010. Other appointment today include Fr. Bruno Feillet as auxiliary of the Archdiocese of Reims, France, and Msgr. Angel Fernandez Collado as auxiliary of the Archdiocese of Toledo, Primate of Spain.
