18th World Day of the Sick – Message of Pope Benedict XVI

On February 11 Church commemorates in liturgy Our Lady of Lourdes.  Since 1992 it is also worldwide observed as World Day of Sick (initiated by late  John Paul II).  This year, it is also the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Apostolic Letter Salvifici Doloris of the John Paul II to bishops, priests, religious families and the faithful of the Catholic Church on the Christian meaning of human suffering.  Also observed is X XV Anniversary of the Foundation of the Pontifical Council for Health Care Workers.  Below you can read the text of Pope’s Benedict XVI Message for World Day of Sick 2010:

World Day for Consecrated Life – homily of Pope Benedict XVI

The weekend of February 7 is marked by 14th celebration of the annual World Day for Consecrated Life. The occasion is celebrated in the United States on the Sunday following February 2, to enable as much participation as possible. World Day for Consecrated Life marks an opportunity to highlight the extraordinary contributions of men and women religious in this country as well as a time to pray for vocations to the consecrated life.

“Challenger” (STS-51-L) – January 28, 1986 11:39:12

It was clear sky on that day over Launch Pad 39B at Kennedy Space Center, Tuesday, January 28, 1986. At 11:38 EST Space Shuttle Challenger took off  in  mission coded STS-51-L. Among seven members crew was Sharon Christa Corrigan McAuliffe, social studies and CCD teacher from  Concord High School,   parishioner of  St. Peter’s Church in Concord, NH.  73 seconds after lift off disaster broke planned for ten days space mission. Christa McAuliffe was intented to conduct science lessons directly from space as winner of NASA’s Teacher-in-space program.  At 11:39:12 Challenger blasted off over the Ocean.  All seven persons perished.

Welcome to new website of NEW ENGLAND PROVINCE of the Congregation of the Mission!

In next couple of days there is  landmarking  event taking place in the life of  the Vincentian community in the United States.  On the occasion of  385th foundation anniversary of the Congregation od the Mission major reconfiguration of American Provinces will take effect.  Three Provinces in the Western Region of the country (Western, Southern and Midwestern) will merge creating new US WESTERN PROVINCE .

In the treshold  of this special moment and to mark the anniversary of the Congregation worldwide we launch our new, rebuilt and refreshed website, including new URL address.  Many of you visited our previous site often. We hope, this new site and its content will attract you more and more. We believe, we are able to meet your expectations and your needs in our new webpresence.  As you have already noticed we are already present on TWITTER (as second CM  Province) and on FACEBOOK (as third in row).  All these efforts are taken to get us closer to you in those places where we all are more and more present.

At the moment this new website is available in English only. We are working on preparing its Polish version. There is still long way to go.  We believe in next weeks the website will get final shape. Forgive us some inconveniences in this time.

The previous NEPCM.ORG website will be available till end of January.  Aferwards connections will be redirected to new location.
