In the morning of December 8, the Solemnity of Immaculate Conception each year community of the Congregation of the Mission during the common prayer by a special act renew the consecration of itself to the Blessed Virgin. This Feast of Her Immaculate Conception was chosen as a fit day to recall the memory of so many benefits, and to offer to Her the solemn homage of gratitude as this Little Congregation belongs entirely to Her and from its very cradle it was consecrated to Her. This is the text of that Act which was announced in the decree by the General Assembly held in 1834.

For the first time in history Pontifex Maximus opens his own social media account. It was announced here and there in prior. And the day has come! Today Pope launched his “personal” – Benedict XVI – account on Twitter supported by Vatican’s communication office. It’s hardly possible Benedict XVI will manage and update the account by himself, but earlier he mentioned he would prepare some information to be posted himself. Although he didn’t tweet anything yet, number of followers grows rapidly.

Regular spiritual exercises are very important for members of the Congregation of the Mission. So are for other religious communities. Regarding the Common Rules each year, every member of the community has to take part in five days retreat. This week, twelve Confreres gathered in DePaul Residence, Manchester, CT for days of reflection, dedication and sharing. Others have had their annual retreat in other time. The retreat started on Monday, October 8 in the late afternoon and the common lunch on Friday, October 12 retreat concludes.
