Two serious natural disasters hit Asia in last couple of days, landfall of Cyclone Phailin in eastern India last Saturday and 7.1 magnitude earthquake in central Philippines on Tuesday. Both have made large devastation in the lands and forced thousands of people to leave their houses and properties. Some people are reported dead, nine in India and over 100 in Philippnes. Visitors of Congregation of the Mission provinces of India North and Philippines sent out special letters asking for prayers and support for all affected.

Some 25,000 people were attending the ceremony of 522 “martyrs of the 20th century in Spain” in the eastern city of Tarragona Sunday, October 13, 2013. Among them were 42 members of the Vincentian Family: 11 priests and 3 brothers from the Congregation of the Mission, 27 Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul and one lay woman, members of AMM.

When Fr. Marek Sobczak CM became a pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Brooklyn, NY on October 19, 2011 he wrote in the address to parishioners, ” three years ago when I was appointed pastor of this parish, the first request made of me by the PPC and many individual parishioners, was that air conditioning be installed in our church.” After some unexpected delays installation of new air conditioning system in the church could start in the summer this year.
