Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Grodkow, a small town in the diocese of Opole, South Western Poland. Mrs. Aleksandra Kopystynska, mother of Fr. Rafal Kopystynski CM, Provincial of New England Province is buried. Funeral started at 6:00 AM EDT (1:00 PM in Poland) with the celebration of the Eucharist in the parish church of St. Michael, the Archangel, staffed by Vincentians from Province of Poland. Fr. Rafal was presiding and some 50 Confreres, many of them Fr. Rafal’s classmates in the seminary, from various Vincentian parishes and houses in Poland concelebrated.

Rafała Kopystyńskiego CM, Wizytatora Prowincji Nowej Anglii. Obrzędy pogrzebowe rozpoczęły się o godzinie 13:00 czasu polskiego (6:00 rano czasu wschodniego) Mszą św. w kościele parafialnym pw. św. Michała Archanioła. Misjonarze św. Wincentego a Paulo pracują w tej parafii od zakończenia wojny. Przewodniczył ks. Rafał. Koncelebrowali licznie przybyli Konfratrzy z różnych domów w Prowincji Polski. Niemal 50 przybyło, wielu to koledzy jeszcze z czasów seminarium.

The sad news has come from Poland today. Mrs. ALEKSANDRA KOPYSTYNSKA, 79, died after long illness, June 17, 2012 in her hometown in Poland. She was mother of Very Rev. A.Rafal Kopystynski CM, Provincial of New England Province of the Congregation of the Mission. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM local time (6:00 AM EDT) in the St. Michael, the Archangel Parish Church in Grodkow, near Opole, South Western Poland. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

“Vocations, the Gift of the Love of God” is the theme of this year Pope’s message for the World Day of Prayer for Vocations (text below) which 49th observation is held worldwide on 4th Sunday of Easter, also known as Good Shepherd Sunday. The purpose of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations is to publically fulfill the Lord’s instruction to, “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest” which we also repeat daily in the prayer for vocations St. Vincent de Paul left us.
